Derren Brown’s Miracle Tour … An Almost Perfect Night

Yesterday was the 7th April 2015 and once again me and my friends made the pilgrimage to the New Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham (the new old one, the same one we always go to Carl πŸ™‚ ). Before I get into the short review / story I want to say a big thanks to my friends for coming, Dave (we are still friends), Jane, Jonathan, Carl and Rachel, a show is always good to see my the company is also important.

So, this is the 4th live show I have been to of Derren’s I have attended now, but this time I managed to get us front row seats and it was awesome πŸ™‚ 5 virtual points to those who can spot me in the picture below that Derren tweeted.

So as usual Derren requests no spoilers and I will stick to that πŸ™‚ The reason for the near perfect subject line is because the seat I was originally going to sit in I didn’t and Dave ended up sitting there and he ended up going on stage for one of the opening predictions, the swine πŸ™‚ Nice one though Dave you did awesome, Rachel also provided input into the prediction and as ever Derren’s production was correct and pre-printed (we validated this on the way home :)). I did get some brief joking chats with Derren during the show as well as aΒ Coconut eclair quality street and a brief touch of the knee, lol. Sitting in the front row really was brilliant and is now my mission for all future shows and I think everyone agreed.

So the show itself … it was great as ever but I still think Enigma and Svengali are my favourites so far. The show went really quickly which was surprising, not sure if I was just more engrossed in what was happening, but when the first part finished I was like wow that was short, then checked my watch and time had flown past. There was alot of good audience participation which is always great and adds to the amazements and quality of Derren’s skills and showmanship. Similar to Infamous this show has a little bit of personality and brief deep thought to it which resonates with people well and adds to Derren’s approachability. Derren was funny as usual, some great jokes and quick whited responses which always gets a chuckle, and one thing that I can reveal because if you follow Derren and you already seen above he utilises the Internets in one of the effects, so you can join in from home even if you cant make it πŸ™‚

I always like to try and work out how Derren does what he does on stage, and a few things I cant quite get my head around the exact working, but thats what I like about it, I got a couple of the predictions myself right during the show which is also just a personal aim of mine to be constantly testing and learning πŸ™‚

If you enjoy Illusions, hypnosis and mind reading type effects you are not going to be disappointed, and even if thats not your bag you will enjoy the show.

As an added bonus I also met Ollie Mealing an up and coming magician and friend of Derren’s so that was a nice bonus, and a very nice chap he seems too.
